How does a Local Authority search work?

The search is provided by the local authority that the site or property is located within.

What does a Local Authority search reveal?

The search consists of two reports:

  • LLC1 – Local Land Charge Register
  • CON29

The LLC1 includes information about the property and whether it is a listed building, in a conservation area, under a tree protection order, in need of an improvement or renovation grant, situated in a smoke control zone and covers planning agreements and conditional planning permissions.

The CON29 highlights information regarding transportation links such as public highways, new roads and rail schemes. It also includes planning decisions, statutory notices, breaches of planning or building regulations and existence of compulsory purchase orders. Information on contaminated land and radon gas is also included.

The turnaround time for reports varies depending on the Local Authority. When you order your search we will provide you with an estimated return date.

Further information

CON29 optional enquires are also available upon request as an additional cost dependant on the Local Authority.
